The SVCA Patriots returned to action Friday night when they traveled to Heritage Academy for the Patriots Mason Dixon Christian Conference season opener. The Patriots were able to defeat the Eagles by a score of 5-1. While the Patriots dominated possession throughout the game, they did have some problems consistently finding the back of the net. Senior midfielder, Hannah Max, opened the scoring for SVCA at the 17th minute with an unassisted goal. Hannah collected a loose ball outside the box, quickly dribbled across the top of the box and fired a left-footed shot that the Eagles goalkeeper was unable to keep out of the net.
At the 30 minute mark, the Eagles would tie the game up with their second shot of the game. The Eagle offensive player, found space at the top corner of the box and hit a high arcing shot that beat SVCA goalkeeper Cori Whisenant.
Isabel Lauderback would give the Patriots the lead for good though seven minutes later with a scrappy, clean-up goal.
Two minutes later, Lauderback would assist Rebekah Max to give the Patriots a two-goal cushion going into the half. Isabel slotted the ball back to Rebekah who hit a chip shot from about 20 yards out.
Isabel would assist Rebekah again 12 minutes into the second half when she slotted a pass back into Max who calmly placed the ball into the corner of the net.
Isabel would score her second goal of the game when, Sophomore forward, Sarah Max played an excellent placed slot pass back into the feet of Isabel who one-timed it into the upper portion of the net making the score 5-1.
The Patriots return to action on Monday when they travel to Chambersburg, PA for a MDCC match-up against Cumberland Valley Christian School. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
