The SVCA Patriots bounced back with a vengeance after being dealt their first loss of the season the night before. Patriots found themselves facing off against MDCC opponent Shalom Christian Academy (Chambersburg, Pa). The game would serve as the first meeting between the two teams since last Spring's MDCC championship match.
From the opening whistle, the Patriots dominated possession and unleashed an array of shots at the Shalom goal. Twenty-one minutes into the game, the Patriots were finally able to breakthrough with the games first goal. Rebekah Max collected a loose ball from about 20 yards out and fired a well-placed shot into the lower-left side netting.
Five minutes later, the Flames would strike back with a goal off a free kick. Just a few minutes later, however, the Patriots would take the lead for good when Hannah Max played a quick, short corner into her sister, Sarah. The Sophomore forward hit a shot into the upper right corner of the goal.
Just before the half, Sarah Max would strike again for her second goal of the game when she picked up a loose ball at the corner of the six yard box and blasted a shot past the goalkeeper.
In the second half, Hannah Max found Isabel Lauderback slashing at the goal. Max played an excellent through ball to Lauderback who rifled a shot into the back of the goal.
Hannah would, fittingly, get the final goal of the game off a corner kick by volleying her shot high into the goal.
With the win, the Patriots move to 8-2-2 overall and 4-0 in the MDCC. They return to action on Saturday when they travel to Hagerstown, MD to play Grace Academy.
